Young Scholars isn't just another homeschool programit's a thoughtfully designed educational experience that honors your child's natural curiosity while building the academic foundation they need to thrive.

Located at Flash GNO Homeschoool Central, our program brings together small groups of homeschool families who value both academic excellence and real-world learning.

Every Tuesday and Thursday at Flash Nola, children dive into mathematics, English language arts, reading, science, and social studies through hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and discovery based exploration.

1.  What is Young Scholars?

Young Scholars is a flexible structures learning community for homeschool families that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at Flash Nola. Children explore math, grammar, history, reading, science, geography, public speaking, and life skills through hands-on activities, experiments, and collaborative projects in a small-group setting.

2. What ages/grades do you serve?

We welcome homeschool children of various ages who are eager to engage in group learning. Students are organized into age-appropriate groups to ensure developmentally suitable activities and experiences. This approach allows us to tailor learning to each group’s interests and abilities while fostering a strong sense of community. This year, we’re offering classes for children in 1st–6th grade and 9th–10th grade.

3. Do I need to stay during sessions?

Yes, families participate together in our learning community. Parents may assist with activities or help facilitate. This collaborative approach is part of what makes Young Scholars special.

4. What if I don't feel qualified to help teach?

Every parent has something valuable to contribute! You don't need teaching credentials--just enthusiasm for learning. Whether you're helping with a simple activity, sharing a hobby, or assisting with clean-up or organization, your involvement enriches the experience for everyone.

5. How many children are in each group?

We intentionally keep group small (up to ten) to ensure every child can participate fully, contribute their ideas, and receive individual attention. This creates a close-knit community feel.

6. What should my child bring?

We'll provide specific supply lists, but generally children should bring curiosity, enthusiasm, and any material we've requested for special activities. A backpack, writing utensils, notebook, and provided curriculum.

7. What if my child has special learning needs?

We welcome children with different learnings styles and needs. Our small group, hands-on approach often works well for various learners. Let's discuss your child's specific needs to ensure Young Scholars is a good fit.

8. How much does it cost?

The cost is $250 per child with a $100 discount for leading classes plus membership at Flash GNO.

9. What if we need to miss a class?

We understand homeschool families have flexible schedules. While regular attendance helps build community connections, we work with families on occasional absences. Our general rule of thumb is that you should plan to be present for 80% of the classes.

10. What makes Young Scholars different from other programs?

Young Scholars is truly a learning community where families participate. It's not a drop-off program----it's a collaborative space where children learn through discovery, families connect, and everyone contribute to the learning experience.

11. When do classes meet?

We meet 15 weeks each semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am - 2 pm.
Classes begin the week of August 19th - December 11th with the week of September 23rd and November 18th off.
Classes resume January 13th - May 5th with February 17th and April 7th off. There is an orientation on Thursday, August 14th from 10 - 2 PM
